Before you set off

A practical guide to SUP rental.

Essentials: 6 questions

How do I book a paddleboard?

Enter your preferred date, group size and contact details in the request form. Add your preferred time in the note. A request is not a confirmed booking: your reservation is confirmed only when SunSup confirms it personally.

Open the request form
How much does SUP rental cost?

We calculate the price from the rental duration, number of boards and any extras. Before confirming your booking, we give you the total and explain exactly what it includes.

What is included in the rental?

Our proposed core package is a paddleboard, paddle, correctly sized buoyancy aid and an introductory briefing. We agree any dry bag, transport or other extra equipment and its price in advance.

How do I pay? Is an advance payment or deposit required?

Before confirming a booking, we explain payment methods, deadlines and any advance payment or equipment deposit. An advance payment for the outing and a refundable equipment deposit are different; we explain each separately if applicable.

Can I change, cancel or arrive late for my booking?

Let us know as soon as your plans change. A new date, group size or arrival time depends on equipment and time availability. We provide cancellation and refund terms before booking; arriving late does not automatically extend your rental.

Where is SunSup in Vilnius?

Our meeting point is by the Vilnelė in Naujoji Vilnia. The map marks the exact spot: 54.691692, 25.395465. Use “Get directions” and arrange your arrival time with SunSup.

When do I collect and return the board?

We agree collection and return times when confirming your booking, allowing time to meet and cover the briefing before launch. If you want to collect the previous evening or return elsewhere, please arrange this in advance.

How do I get there, and where can I park?

Our map provides navigation to the meeting point. Check the final approach and parking arrangements before travelling. A map pin does not mean that driving or parking right beside the water is permitted.

Which route should I choose, and how long does it take?

Start with your experience, preferred pace and time on the water. Before agreeing a route, we discuss its start, finish, distance and expected duration. Actual time also depends on current, wind and stops.

Do we finish where we started? What about return transport?

That depends on the agreed route. Before launch, everyone should know the finish point and how people and equipment will return. If a transfer is needed, we agree its availability and price separately, before you set off.

Can I try paddleboarding for the first time?

For a first outing, we suggest calm water and a duration that suits you. Tell us you are new when enquiring so we can discuss the setting, equipment and support. Not every river section is suitable for beginners.

What if I cannot swim or feel nervous around water?

Tell us before booking and do not choose an independent river trip without an individual assessment. A buoyancy aid is important equipment, but it does not replace preparation or guarantee safety. Discuss whether the outing is suitable with the organiser.

Will you show me how to paddle? Does an instructor come with us?

We propose a short practical briefing covering board control, stopping and what to do after a fall. A shore briefing and supervision throughout the trip are different services. Please discuss an instructor-led outing when enquiring.

What happens if it rains or gets windy?

Rain is only one factor: wind, thunderstorms, water level and current matter too. A booking is not a reason to launch in unsuitable conditions. In that case, we propose arranging another time or handling a refund under the terms supplied in advance.

What safety equipment is needed on a river?

A correctly fitted buoyancy aid and equipment suited to the water are important. An ankle leash can snag on an obstacle in flowing water, so it is not a universal solution. Discuss an appropriate quick-release system and how to use it with a qualified instructor.

What if I need help while on the water?

If there is an immediate threat to life or health, call 112 and describe your location as accurately as possible. Keep a waterproofed means of communication accessible on your person. Agree how to contact SunSup about non-emergency issues before launch.

Can children join?

Tell us the children’s ages and experience around water in advance. Participation needs to be agreed around the route, correctly sized buoyancy aids and adult supervision. Age alone does not establish whether a child can paddle independently.

Can two people share one paddleboard?

Only with a board intended for this use, within the manufacturer’s load and passenger limits. Mention your preference in the enquiry. If suitable equipment is unavailable or conditions do not allow it, separate boards are needed.

Are there weight or fitness limits?

Board choice depends on the total load; route choice depends on experience and ability. There is no single weight limit for every board. Please discuss mobility or other individual needs before booking.

Can friends or work teams come as a group?

Include the group size, preferred date and occasion in your enquiry. We can then discuss a shared start time, equipment needs and a suitable format. Group capacity, supervision and any group price are confirmed individually.

Can I bring my dog?

Please agree this before booking. We need to consider your dog’s size, behaviour around water, suitable equipment and the route. Fitting on the board alone does not establish whether bringing a dog is appropriate.

What should I wear and bring?

Dress for both water and air temperatures, expecting that you may get wet. Bring drinking water, sun protection and dry clothes for afterwards. Ask in advance about suitable clothing and footwear for cooler water.

Can I take my phone and other belongings?

Bring only what you need and protect it from water. Keep a phone for calling for help accessible on your person, not only attached to the board. Check waterproof pouch or dry-bag arrangements before coming.

Are changing facilities and storage available?

Check changing, storage and toilet arrangements before arrival. Until these have been agreed, do not plan to leave valuables unattended on the bank.

Can I take a board away for a day or weekend?

Ask separately about longer rentals, including your dates and where you intend to paddle. If available, we agree transport, equipment, inflation and return arrangements. Taking equipment away is not automatically part of a local outing.

What if equipment is damaged or lost?

Report any fault or loss to SunSup as soon as possible. Normal wear and damage are considered separately. Responsibilities and any applicable charges should be clearly explained in the rental terms before equipment is handed over.
